Den utbildade juristen, men numera författaren på heltid Åsa Larsson växte i Kiruna. Hon flyttade till Uppsala för att läsa juridik, och arbetade som jurist fram till 2003 då hon debuterade med romanen Solstorm. Boken belönades med Svenska Deckarakademins pris för bästa debut.
